Makatendeka: A Celebration of Gratitude and Growth – New Gospel

If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the years, it’s that gratitude has a way of shifting perspectives. As an artist, I’ve always used my music to express thoughts, stories, and emotions that resonate with me.

My latest song, Makatendeka, is no different—except this time, it’s a heartfelt celebration of gratitude and the good things that have come my way. Also I leaned into a style of music I do not usually express myself through and more-so on the writing side of things.

On December 24th, as I reflected on the blessings in my life, one particular moment stood out: the fact that I would soon be traveling to Bulawayo to see my mother.

That realization filled me with so much appreciation that I felt compelled to create something special. Makatendeka was born from that place of reflection, a song that moves away from my usual underground Hip-Hop style and embraces a more melodic Afro-pop, Afro-beat, and rap fusion.

I originally wrote the song with the intention of having someone else sing it. I wanted to create something catchy and different from my usual sound, and that’s where the talented Massie Blaq came in. When I played her the demo, she connected with it instantly. “This is brilliant, I’m in,” she said. From there, she co-wrote and modified the lyrics, taking the track to a whole new level. That’s exactly why I wanted to work with her—she added depth and dimension to the song that I hadn’t even considered.

Bringing Makatendeka to life wouldn’t have been possible without the production expertise of Raymond Sibanda, better known as Rayo. His Afro-beat rhythms provided the perfect foundation for this song, capturing the warmth and celebration I envisioned. The entire process felt organic—like a collaboration that was meant to happen.

Now that the song is complete, I’m waiting for the right moment to announce its release. I promise, it won’t be long before you can listen to it, and I can’t wait to share this new side of me with you.

But music isn’t the only thing keeping me busy. I’ve recently revived Tsano Comics and launched my new solo podcast, One Mic, One Monologue, which is now available on Spotify. With four episodes already out, I’m diving deeper into storytelling and sharing my thoughts in a way that feels both personal and meaningful.

I’ve realized that creativity is an unstoppable force for me. The ideas keep flowing, and I’m just riding the wave. Whether it’s music, comics, or podcasting, my goal remains the same—to create authentic, powerful work that connects with people.

So stay tuned for the release of Makatendeka, and in the meantime, check out my podcast and comics for more of what I’ve been working on. The journey continues, and I’m grateful to have you along for the ride.
